During Gold Rush
In 1848, the big news about gold began to spread through newspapers and even James K. Polk (PBS). The new was eventually spread to international land as well. Once that happened, boats that had many ecstatic people were filling the ocean, many religions, a new government, and a blueprint from many who got rich.

-In 1860, there were about 35000 Chinese
-There were also about 155000 Anglo-Americans mining
-Unfortunately, many Native Americans were killed or put on reservations

-Samuel Brannan brought Mormonism to America -"In every major gold mining town -- Weaverville, Sacremento, Downieville and Marysville -- the Chinese miners had their houses of worship" (Ling-chi Wang). -Gold Rush also brought other religions such as Judaism |
